The Commision is proposing a new Horizon Europe programme and, in addition, the first ever Digital Europe Programme.
The Commission is proposing €100 billion for research and innovation. A new programme – Horizon Europe – will build on the achievements of the previous research and innovation programme Horizon 2020. Our project OpenReq is funded by Horizon 2020.
About two-thirds of Europe’s economic growth over the last decades has been driven by innovation. In brief, Horizon Europe is expected to generate new and more knowledge and technologies, promoting scientific excellence, and to have positive effects on growth, trade and investment and significant social and environmental impact.
Moreover, Horizon Europe will promote links with other future EU programmes such as the first ever Digital Europe Programme. The European Commission is proposing to create the Digital Europe programme and invest €9.2 billion in answering to digital challenges.
The Digital Europe programme aims at increasing EU’s international competitiveness as well as developing and reinforcing Europe’s strategic digital capacities. These key capacities concern high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced digital skills.
